How to Pick the Right Accommodation in London: All Things Considered

Visiting London is a great opportunity. There is so much to do, see, and experience, and even if you’re just coming from a more rural area nearby, the experience can be life-changing.

However, everyone needs somewhere to sleep and rest, and it can be a little overwhelming trying to find London accommodation that fits your needs.

Today, we’re going to go over four situations and what your best option is for each one.

Let’s get started.

1 to 2 People: Overnight

If you’re staying in London for the night, or even just for the weekend, and it’s only you and a partner, the best choice is typically your standard hotel. You can save a few bucks, and you won’t be there long enough to really care about the lack of room or features.

This is where hotels excel. They’re cheap accommodations for very short-term stays, and while they don’t offer much, they can feel a bit luxurious in short bursts.

However, if you’re staying longer than the weekend, or if you have more than two people, you need to look elsewhere. The average hotel charges 60-EUR per person, and that can quickly add up to more than the cost of superior accommodation.

1 to 2 People: One Week+

Like we said, even if it’s just you and a partner, you need more substantial accommodations for longer stays. If you’re going to be in London for a week or more, we highly recommend a serviced apartment.

A serviced apartment functions just like a hotel, but it’s a luxury apartment that is fully furnished. This means it’s just as convenient as a hotel, but you get a lot more privacy, space, and functionality in your living space. Namely, you get a full kitchen, a den, private bedrooms, and even a full bathroom; all of which are equipped with the same things you’d expect to find in a properly furnished home.

These are a little more expensive than hotels, but they’re worth it to ensure you and your partner are comfortable during your stay.

3+ People: Any Duration

If you have more than three people, such as you, your partner, and at least one child, you need to go with a serviced apartment. Not only is there a lot more space to accommodate everyone comfortably, but if you consider the per-person fees of hotels, you’ll actually be paying about the same price. Don’t even bother with a hotel.

1 Person or More: Business Trips

A proper business trip can last anywhere from three months to more than a year, and you’re guaranteed to be stressed out the entire time.

So, even if it’s just you going on the trip, you should invest in a serviced apartment. You’ll be more comfortable, and you’ll be able to work or de-stress much more easily. That can mean the difference between making your company proud or going back home ready to hear your boss go off the walls.

Not only that, but you’ll have enough space for your family to tag along.
